Poem of the Month

Dear reader,

Beginning in September 2016, the Lásságámmi foundation will start publishing something called ”Poem of the Month.” These poems will be presented in four languages: Sami, Norwegian, Finnish, and English. Our intention is primarily to present texts written by Nils-Aslak Valkeapää that have not been translated previously. In some instances this may involve texts that were not included in any of his books. For 2020 this implies that we will publish a few poems from the book Jus gazzebiehtár bohkosivččii (If only the Siberian tit would laugh), DAT 1996. This book is still not translated into any other languages. We hope that our website visitors will find this valuable, since our intention is to make a much greater range of Valkeapää’s writings known.
